EXAMPLE OF HOW YOUR TAX CREDIT

CAN BE APPLIED

The below example assumes an individual’s annual income is $100,000 with an estimated annual federal tax liability of $17,000. By purchasing a new Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, they could qualify for a one-time federal tax credit of up to $7,500.

This tax credit would reduce the buyer’s federal tax liability for the year in which the vehicle is purchased. $17,000 estimated annual tax liability - $7,500 federal tax credit = $9,500 new estimated annual federal tax liability.

Generally, federal taxes are paid throughout the year through withholding taxes from paychecks or through estimated payments. As a result, this tax credit and the related reduction to the federal tax liability could result in a higher federal tax refund when filing his/her federal tax return.
